PRODUCT LINE MANAGER - FIBER (2008-6W)

Summary
The Product Line Manager is responsible for all strategic and tactical initiatives required for a successful product line. This includes defining the vision for the product line and individual products, managing the products throughout the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, and working closely with development to deliver successful products. It also includes working with sales, marketing, engineering and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are clearly defined and met.
Main Responsibilities
- Stay current with marketplace knowledge and expertise.
- Define short- and long-term product line strategy.
- Capture product features/revisions to create product release plans that support company objectives.
- Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities.
- Perform competitive analyses to define positioning and strategy.
- Develop competitive pricing models and price points.
- Deliver revenue forecasts on a monthly basis.
- Provide feedback on product investment levels and manage bottom line impacts.
- Develop sales tools and collateral.
- Brief and train sales engineers and other personnel.
- Participate in sales meetings.
- Engage directly with clients and sales reps to negotiate non-standard terms.
- Support sales force in negotiation of product issues.
- Maintain communication with internal customers and external suppliers to ensure effective execution.
Education
Ideal candidate will have a minimum of a B.S. in a related engineering discipline plus 2–4 years of product management experience, preferably in a fiber optic or high tech industry.
Knowledge / Skills
Skilled at multitasking; excellent communication skills; able to learn and take on new responsibilities; able to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Personal Attributes
Strong degree of self-motivation and direction required; able to work with minimal supervision, and also be an effective team member.
