FIBER OPTIC ASSEMBLER (2010-7W)

Location: East Granby, CT

Work hours: first shift / may go to second shift

Summary

Fiber Assembler and Tester of optical fibers, optical components and integrated fiber laser and amplifier modules.

Main Responsibilities

Ability to understand and follow procedures in the assembly of fiber laser and amplifier modules.

Focus on Lean, ISO and best practices resulting in 100% customer satisfaction.

Education

Technical Associates degree or certificate, or equivalent related experience.

Experience

Required - Electro-Mechanical small parts assembly.

Desired - Fiber handling experience.

Desired - Knowledge of fiber optic assembly.

Knowledge / Skills

Required - Experience with hand/power tools, soldering equipment and electrical meters.

Required - A mechanical aptitude with the ability to work well with hands.

The understanding and practice of assembly and industrial workmanship standards.

Experience with Microsoft Office applications.

Collecting and analyzing data.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Personal Attributes

Strong team player but also able to work in a self-directed manner. Enthusiastic with the willingness to learn. Reports to a supervisor and follows a set of standards and procedures to perform routine work. Seeks supervisory approval for non-routine matters.

Additional Notes

40 non-exempt hours/week. Start first shift but must be open to moving to 2pm-10pm hours at any time in the future. Clean environment. Safety and quality focus. Must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. Overtime as business requires.
