Dr. Kanishka Tankala (VP of Operations) Elected to the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering (CASE) By Its Membership

February 11, 2011 - Dr. Kanishka Tankala (Nufern Vice President of Operations) has been elected to the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering (CASE) by its membership. Dr. Tankala was nominated and elected for the CASE membership after meeting multiple membership requirements and accomplishments. Specifically, the Academy cited his pioneering achievements in the design, development and manufacture of specialty optical fiber, especially for double-clad rare-earth doped fiber used in high-power fiber lasers and amplifiers.

"This election is an honor and would not be possible without the opportunity given to me at Nufern, and the contribution of many colleagues; I greatly appreciate it", said Dr. Tankala who received his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Tankala has authored more than 60 peer reviewed scientific publications and has been awarded more than 20 patents in the field of specialty optical fibers.
The CASE is a non-profit institution patterned after the National Academy of Sciences. The Academy identifies and studies issues and technological advances that are or should be of concern to the people of Connecticut, and provides unbiased, expert advice on science- and technology-related issues to state government and other Connecticut institutions. It is comprised of distinguished scientists and engineers from Connecticut's academic, industrial, and institutional communities. Membership is limited by the Academy's Bylaws to 400 members.
