EAST GRANBY, CT – February 1, 2016– Nufern, a leading U.S. manufacturer of specialty optical fibers, fiber lasers and amplifiers, and fiber optic gyro coils, announced today it has expanded its Yb-doped single-clad fiber product offerings by introducing two new large mode area fibers – a standard version (LMA) and a polarization maintaining (PLMA) design. These fibers are optimized for core-pumping applications.
These new fibers, PLMA-YSF-10/125 and LMA-YSF-10/125, feature 10 µm core diameter and a 125 µm cladding diameter. Similar to Nufern’s YSF-HI fibers, the glass composition of these new fibers has been optimized for superior performance in core-pumping applications. Compared to current YSF products, the increased core area of these new fibers allows much higher output powers for fiber amplifiers and laser devices.
Jeff Wojtkiewicz, VP of Sales & Marketing, states, “The new Yb-doped single-clad fibers address a market need for higher power core-pumped fibers capable of single-mode beam output. Nufern remains at the cutting edge of specialty fiber technology providing the broadest range of products available.”
