PANDA-style fiber developed for visible and near IR wavelengths
EAST GRANBY, CT — January 25, 2005 — Nufern, the largest independent manufacturer of fiber laser and amplifier modules and specialty optical fibers, has expanded its polarization-maintaining line of products to include 460, 630 and 780 nm wavelengths. These germanium-doped silica core fibers are designed for polarization-sensitive applications throughout the visible and near IR ranges and compliment Nufern’s existing single-mode fiber product line for shorter wavelength applications.
“These new additions to our specialty fiber portfolio provide the same benefits our customers have demanded and come to expect in our telecom wavelength polarization maintaining fibers, including high birefringence, ease of optical alignment and unparalleled uniformity,” said Dr. Andy Held, Nufern’s vice president of sales and marketing.
The new PANDA-style fibers are used for laser pigtails, couplers and patch cords for many bio-medical, sensor and spectroscopy applications. Featuring tight optical and geometrical tolerance control, the PM460-HP, PM630-HP and PM780-HP fibers are proof tested to 200 kpsi to ensure long lifetime and reliability for laboratory and field deployment.
