Nufern Expands Double-Clad Fiber Portfolio - New PM fibers and passive support fibers show Nufern’s leadership

EAST GRANBY, CT - Jan. 26, 2004 - Nufern, a leading independent manufacturer of fiber laser fiber laser modules and specialty optical fibers, has expanded its range of large mode area (LMA) fibers by introducing two new Yb-doped, PANDA-style, polarization maintaining (PM) double-clad (DC) fibers, designs rapidly becoming the industry standard in high power fiber lasers and amplifiers.

In addition, Nufern is introducing a wide selection of passive support fibers, including passive beam delivery fibers and standard pump pigtail fibers. Nufern’s industry leading portfolio of high power fibers serve the growing number of component manufacturers attracted to the rapidly expanding field of fiber lasers and amplifiers.

Nufern successfully launched its LMA/DC fiber series at Photonics West 2003. With the introduction of the 20/400 PM fiber and the 10/400 fibers (both PM and non-PM) at Photonics West 2004, Nufern rounds out its family of standard LMA fibers. Both these new PM fibers are capable of operating to high-CW powers; the 20/400 fiber design has recently delivered record high powers, over 800W, with diffraction-limited beam quality.
