Nufern addresses the need for high efficiency Er/Yb double clad fiber for CATV amplifiers

Nufern, a leading U.S. manufacturer of specialty optical fibers and fiber laser and amplifier modules, announced today the introduction of a high efficiency Er/Yb double clad fiber for CATV amplifiers.

The new SM-EYDF-6/125-HE is a double clad fiber with a core composition designed for high conversion efficiency in high power amplifiers pumped at 915 to 960 nm. The high efficiency translates directly into high signal output power and reduced pump power requirements.

“CATV amplifier manufacturers have been asking for high efficiency Er/Yb fiber to help reduce their pump power requirements,” says Dr. Adrian Carter, CTO and Asia/Pacific Sales Director. “This double clad fiber addresses those needs for amplifiers utilizing 915 to 960 nm multimode pumps.”

The fiber is manufactured to exceptionally tight mechanical and optical tolerances. The resulting uniformity helps to ensure high yield when the fiber is used in device manufacturing. All Nufern fibers are produced under an ISO 9001:2000 certified quality management system.

Nufern also supplies a matched passive double clad version of this of this fiber as the ideal component and delivery fiber for use with its active counterpart.
