EAST GRANBY, CT – January 23, 2009 - Nufern announces the availability of the first in a family of standard single mode 2 micron CW fiber lasers. Powered by Nufern’s proprietary Thulium doped LMA optical fibers, Nu2µ fiber laser sources operating at 1940nm are an attractive choice for myriad applications where robust single mode CW output, compact size, air cooling, low input power, and high efficiency are necessary. Applications range from scientific, LIDAR, through material processing, and to numerous medical fields. The Nufern Nu2µ, CW fiber lasers can be rapidly modulated to approximately 20 kHz or run CW with very high stability. Controlled power output can range from 10 to 100% for very fine process control. Abundant control and supervision interfaces allow for easy integration into critical applications. The output is via an armored flex pigtail complete with output collimator. Nufern supplies a unique type of monolithic fiber laser using proprietary large mode area fibers. This particular laser also boasts replaceable bar type pump diodes as well as a modular “optical engine”. Nufern designs are typically modular for long service life and easy retrofit. Nufern based in East Granby, CT, is a leading U.S. manufacturer of fiber laser and amplifier modules and specialty optical fibers serving industrial, military/aerospace, medical and telecom applications. Nufern is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rofin-Sinar Technologies Inc., a U.S. company headquartered in Plymouth, MI and Hamburg, Germany. Rofin-Sinar is one of the world's leading developers and manufacturers of high-performance lasers and laser-based solutions with more than 28,000 laser units installed worldwide and more than 3,000 customers.
