Mr. Martin Seifert (President of Nufern) Elected to the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering (CASE) By Its Membership

March 30, 2012 - Mr. Martin Seifert (President of Nufern) has been elected to the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering (CASE) by its membership. Mr. Seifert was nominated and elected for the CASE membership after meeting multiple membership requirements and accomplishments. Specifically, the Academy cited his technical and business accomplishments in the areas of developing specialized optical fibers, fiber lasers, amplifiers and gyroscope coils. He was recognized for founding Nufern, growing it to a leading manufacturer of specialty optical fibers, fiber lasers, amplifiers and gyroscope coils for a wide range of markets including U.S. Navy and Air Force and NASA, and transitioning it to a public company as a division of Rofin-Sinar Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: RSTI).
“I am honored to receive this award and look forward to serving my community with it.” said Mr. Seifert who founded Nufern in 2000. Prior to starting Nufern, Mr. Seifert was GM of Lucent Specialty Fibers, Chief Operating Officer of Schweitzer Engineering Labs, and successfully started and managed a combined hardware and software business at Rockwell. He holds a B.S degree from the University of British Columbia and has been awarded eight patents in the field of specialty optical fibers. Mr. Seifert is also a member of the CASE Study Committee on Guidelines for Development of a Strategic Plan for Accessibility to Broadband Services in Connecticut.
The CASE is a non-profit institution patterned after the National Academy of Sciences. The Academy identifies and studies issues and technological advances that are or should be of concern to the people of Connecticut, and provides unbiased, expert advice on science- and technology-related issues to state government and other Connecticut institutions. It is comprised of distinguished scientists and engineers from Connecticut's academic, industrial, and institutional communities. Membership is limited by the Academy's Bylaws to 400 members.
