EAST GRANBY, CT – June 17, 2015– Nufern, a leading U.S. manufacturer of specialty optical fibers, fiber lasers and amplifiers, and fiber optic gyro coils, announced today it has expanded its EyeSAFE fiber product offerings by introducing two new Er/Yb co-doped fibers. These new products offer the latest advancement in Er/Yb glass technology and are exclusively offered with NuCOATFA proprietary low index coating.
The EyeSAFE product line features Er/Yb co-doped fibers for 1550 nm operation, and Tm and Ho doped fibers for 2 µm applications. These new Er/Yb double clad fibers (EYDF) are optimized to minimize parasitic 1 µm ASE while maximizing pump efficiency and power output. Nufern’s new single-mode EYDF fiber features a 6 µm core diameter and is ideally suited for lower power applications. The new multi-mode EYDF fiber features a 10 µm core diameter with a 0.21 NA and can reach output powers exceeding 10 watts with extremely low 1 µm ASE.
Kanishka Tankala, VP of Fiber Business, states, “These new EYDF fibers provide increased output power with high efficiency while maintaining low 1µm ASE and are the best commercially available products. Both of these fibers help end-users develop next generation high power amplifiers. Combined with Nufern’s proprietary NuCOATFA low index coating, these fibers provide superior reliability at eye safe wavelengths.”
