SAN JOSE, California - January 28, 2003 - Nufern Introduces Specialty Multimode Fiber Capabilities - Acrylate, Polyimide and Silicone Coatings. Nufern, the largest independent manufacturer of application-specific optical fiber, introduces specialty multimode fiber capabilities for military, aerospace, and industrial applications. Designed for high performance in extreme temperatures and harsh environments, Nufern's Specialty Multimode fibers are offered in step-index and graded-index configurations. Numerical apertures range from 0.06 to 0.45, with core sizes from 20 µm to 700 µm. These fibers are available with acrylate, polyimide and silicone coatings, with and without upbuffers. Radiation resistant versions of Nufern Specialty Multimode fibers are available on request.
We've worked diligently to develop and perfect our core product portfolio, says Nufern Director of Process Engineering, Nick Jacobson. Our current focus is on product enhancements from specialty coatings to tightening tolerances on product specifications.
" These specialty multimode capabilities are geared toward aerospace and industrial applications, continues Jacobson. We've taken our experience developing precision fiber for telecom applications and applied those same standards and testing methodologies for tight specifications and repeatability. Whether it's graded-index for more bandwidth or heat resistant specialty coatings, our customers have a wide variety of product options to improve application performance and reduce cost.
As with all Nufern's fiber products, each lot of Nufern's Specialty Multimode fiber is furnished with extensive lot specific characterization data.
