EAST GRANBY, CT – May 23, 2006 — Nufern, the largest independent manufacturer of monolithic fiber laser and amplifier sub-assemblies and specialty optical fibers, announced today the expansion of their pure silica core fiber product line to include a range of polarization maintaining (PM) fibers based on the PANDA-style stress structure.
Fibers from Nufern’s existing pure-silica core fibers have superior waveguide, radiation and mechanical properties which have enabled them to support a large variety of visible wavelength applications in a diverse range of markets. The pure silica core is optimally designed for demanding applications requiring ultra-low attenuation over longer lengths, and where resistance to radiation and color center formation are critical. Nufern is pleased to announce that it has expanded the range of pure silica core fibers to include UV and visible wavelength PM fibers.
Nufern’s new PM-S350-HP, PM-S405-HP, PM-S460-HP and PM-S630-HP fibers constitute a new family of PM fibers suitable for applications covering the entire visible spectrum. As with all Nufern PM products, these fibers are based on the technically superior/industry preferred PANDA-style stress structure. This design facilitates high consistency and end-to-end control of optical properties which provides particular advantages in spectrographic and frequency sensitive applications.
